by admin

Employment, enhancement of the role of women in society and the actions necessary to ensure sustainable growth, especially from a climate perspective. These were the themes at the center of the second meeting of the International Advocacy Caucus of the B20 2021, held online yesterday, in the presence of Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, of Bill Gates, co-president of The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as founder of Breakthrough Energy, as well as Jeff Bezos and other personalities from the world economy. The meeting, introduced by Emma Marcegaglia, president of B20 2021, and by John Elkann, president and CEO of Exor. As stated by Emma Marcegaglia, “the post-pandemic recovery must have a strong green footprint, also to prevent future crises linked to climate change. With this in mind, all available technologies for decarbonising our economies must be considered, while ensuring safe access to clean energy for all communities and improving the sustainable use of natural resources. The discussion with the authoritative members of our International Advocacy Caucus – added Marcegaglia – confirms that we are on the right path to address concrete recommendations to the G20 in view of the choices that await the international community in the coming months, starting from COP26, in view of the which Minister Cingolani is making great efforts ”, he concluded.

“The Advocacy Caucus of the B20 – said John Elkann – is involving the best entrepreneurs and representatives of global companies on a key priority of our time: promoting full access for women to the labor market, a particularly urgent issue – underlined Elkann – given that they were the most affected by the pandemic. The best practices, concrete recommendations and measurable action plans suggested by this B20 body – added the president and CEO of Exor NV – will complement the efforts of the working groups as we prepare with ambition and responsibility for the final meeting of governments on next October ».
