The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Bari has opened a file for manslaughter, currently against unknown persons, with reference to the death of a 57-year-old, Rosa Ciraci, a teacher from Monopoli (Bari), who died yesterday after being crushed by the gate of her house while crossing it standing. The carabinieri investigate the episode, coordinated by the Bari prosecutor Grazia Errede. The tragic accident took place in the Bellocchio district, in the countryside of Monopoli.
According to what is learned, the woman was returning to the house when the gate, coming out of the tracks on which it ran, fell on her, hitting her violently on various parts of the body and especially on the head. When 118 arrived, she was already dead. The husband was at home and did not notice anything.
The alarm was given by a postman who was passing by. The body was transported to the Polyclinic for external cadaveric examination and, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, an autopsy will not be ordered because the cause of death is already clear. Instead, a technical consultation will be carried out on the gate and this morning there will be a first technical inspection.
From the first investigations it emerges, in fact, that maintenance work had recently been carried out in the villa and in particular at the gate. The checks will focus on how they were performed and the pieces used for the gears.
