The alleged perpetrator of the attempted murder of the bouncer who was shot in front of a nightclub in Modugno, on the night between Saturday and Sunday, has been identified. After less than 24 hours he was in fact arrested Giovanni Gualberti, 45 years old, prejudiced and believed to be affiliated with the Strisciuglio clan of Bari. It all started at about 3, when a group of people arrived near the Demodè disco in Modugno, despite the late hour.

Some couples approached the gate where there were two security guards. At that point a confrontation begins between customers and bouncers: the images taken from the video surveillance system speak for themselves and we see that at a certain point a man attacked the bouncers. Some witnesses say that the reason for the dispute is due to the failure to show the Green Pass, others still to the advanced time and the imminent closure of the venue. In fact, when the bouncer refused to let them in, there were shoves and a slap against the security officer who, assuming the guard position, hit the attacker with a punch in the face.
Right at this moment Gualberti., Not accepting the denial received even in front of friends, would have pulled out a gun, firing point-blank at the bouncer who, despite being hit, managed to block his tormentor from behind, avoiding the further explosion of gunshots. In those moments there is a general stampede, while the victim managed to momentarily immobilize his attacker until, outside the room, other bouncers arrived to help him.
They are excited moments and every minute that passes constitutes a serious delay in saving his life. In the meantime, the alleged offender, with his friends, got into a large black car and drove away quickly making him lose track. Shortly after, the 118 health workers arrived and transported the bouncer to the hospital of Venere in Bari, first as an emergency in the operating room and then in intensive care. Then came the soldiers of the Radiomobile Section, of the Carabinieri Station of Bitetto and of Modugno as well as those of the Operational Section and of the SIS of the Provincial Command of Bari for the reconstruction of the crime scene and the search for the author. Two cal 380 auto shells were found on the spot, a medal and, subsequently, at the hospital at the end of the surgery, also an ogive extracted from the abdomen of the victim.
While the victim is in the operating room, the Carabinieri of the Modugno Company have continued incessantly to collect a series of elements which, together with those crystallized by the colleagues of the SIS of the Provincial Command, will then be indispensable to identify GG as the alleged perpetrator of the attempted murder. At this point, the man and car hunt, immortalized by the cameras of the video surveillance systems in the area, intensifies until the vehicle is found inside a parking lot, not far from the port of Bari. the mazes of the streets of Bari Vecchia open up and it is there that GG lives. The intervention is timely and the man is tracked down at home. Despite the late hour he is still in bed. The clues already collected by the investigators are strengthened when GG opens the front door. In fact, he presents with his left eye black and swollen: it is evident that the wound is very recent.
For GG, released after a long detention in 2019, following his arrest in 2000, as part of the “Who dares wins” operation, conducted for mafia-type association, possession of weapons and association aimed at drug trafficking, open the doors of the prison again, as ordered by the PM on duty, dr. Marcello Quercia, which requested the validation of the arrest and the issuance of a suitable precautionary measure. Also in this case the accusation is heavy, it speaks of attempted aggravated murder and illegal carrying of firearms.
