Barn fire on farm: blast trauma from exploding batteries

Five residents were treated on site for suspected smoke inhalation. During the extinguishing work, two firefighters suffered blast trauma from exploding batteries and also had to be treated by the rescue service.

There is still a risk of collapse for parts of the barn. The property damage is estimated at a lower six-digit euro amount. Officials have not yet released the cause of the fire. The fire experts of the Euskirchen police have started the investigation.
