The reporter learned from the press conference on the safety management of Beijing’s fireworks and firecrackers in 2022 held on December 14 that from January 1 next year, Beijing will implement a global ban on fireworks and firecrackers, and no fireworks retail outlets will be established during the Spring Festival.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Beijing Fireworks Office, since April this year, all districts in the city have actively promoted regional bans from maintaining urban safety and reducing air pollution. Up to now, all districts outside the Fifth Ring Road have issued bans on fireworks and firecrackers. . Except for Fangshan and Mentougou, which will implement a comprehensive ban on January 1, other districts have implemented a comprehensive ban. From January 1 of next year, Beijing will implement a ban on fireworks and firecrackers (except for fireworks displays approved by the public security agency in the Universal Studios Resort). During the Spring Festival in 2022, no retail outlets for fireworks and firecrackers will be established. In addition, in accordance with the “Beijing Fireworks Safety Management Regulations”, the municipal people’s government shall decide and make an announcement if the country or Beijing needs to set off fireworks and firecrackers in prohibited areas during celebrations and other festivals.
According to the Public Security Management Corps of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, on October 27, the police launched a special operation to crack down on illegal fireworks and firecrackers across the city. Since the operation, 39 cases have been solved, 4392 boxes of illegal fireworks and firecrackers have been confiscated, and 42 criminals or administrative penalties have been imposed.
In the next step, the Beijing Fireworks Office will actively coordinate with various departments and district governments to adopt measures such as “careful organization and deployment, strengthening publicity and launching, severely cracking down on illegality, comprehensive investigation of hidden dangers, and strict ban on care of fireworks” to fully promote the ban on fireworks and firecrackers in the city.
