A recognition of the Italian dionne in science: Teresa Fornaro, a young researcher at the National Institute of Astrophysics, is among the winners of the 33rd edition of the “Marisa Bellisario” Award: the “Golden Sprout” goes to her, the Italian chosen by NASA among the 13 “participating scientists” of the Mars 2020 mission, which took the Perseverance rover to Mars in search of signs of past life.
Teresa Fornaro comments: «I am really excited and deeply honored to have been chosen for such a coveted award, among extraordinary women who have established themselves for their great value and commitment. Receiving this recognition pays off for all the hard work and sacrifices made so far. Il Germoglio D’oro not only represents a very prestigious recognition for me but also a wish for a future of flourishing scientific research in which women can be increasingly protagonists ».
Teresa Fornaro will participate in the show “Women who make the difference” which will be held on July 1st at the Rai Fabrizio Frizzi studios in Rome and will be broadcast on Rai1 on July 17th. Already in 2011 an INAF researcher, Marta Burgay, received the Bellisario Prize.
