BELLUNO. Around 1.20 pm, the Alpine Rescue of Belluno was alerted following the call of the manager of the Settimo Alpini Refuge, for a hiker tumbled into the stream, during the descent towards Calvary. FDL 63, from Trieste, arrived in company at the last bend before Calvary, almost certainly due to an illness, had slipped off the path and tumbled about thirty meters on the steep lawn to the stream below, where he had crashed the head.
While his brother joined him and gave him first aid, since there was no telephone coverage, another person went up to the shelter and raised the alarm. In telephone contact with the manager, who also arrived at the scene of the accident, the rescuers collected the first information which was then transmitted to the crew of the Suem di Pieve di Cadore helicopter. Once on the vertical, at 1,300 meters above sea level, the helicopter descended with a 60-meter winch, a helicopter rescue technician, doctor and nurse, who took over the resuscitation maneuvers. Unfortunately, there is nothing left but to note the death of the man. The body was embarked and recovered with the winch to be transported to Bolzano Bellunese, where the Belluno Alpine Rescue, the Police and the hearse were waiting.
