Belluno, poor maintenance on roads and sidewalks: the protest of the League

by admin

BELLUNO. New question on the state of maintenance in the city. Presenting it are the municipal councilors of the Lega, Luciano Da Pian and Marzio Sovilla, who in this case focus on the condition of the sidewalks in various areas of the city center: Piazza Santo Stefano, via Flavio Ostilio, via del Cansiglio, via Cipro and, in particular, the entrance to via Simon da Cusighe, for those coming from Piazza Santo Stefano. Sovilla and Da Pian explain that they have received observations and complaints, precisely in this regard, presented by both traders and citizens who usually frequent the areas concerned. The Northern League councilors also made an inspection along the streets of the center, documenting their question with several photographs. “The maintenance and safety of public roads should ensure, in addition to urban decor, also the safety of pedestrians and vehicles, especially two-wheeled vehicles, who frequent them”, say the opposition councilors and ask the mayor and alderman competent methods and timing necessary to remedy this potentially dangerous situation.

“There is no doubt that municipal resources are limited and that highlighting what doesn’t work may seem easier than administering, but we believe that priorities must be set considering the problems of safety, in addition to those of urban decor. With the sidewalks reduced in this state it is not unlikely that people can get hurt and it is necessary to respect the difficulties of those with walking difficulties. Furthermore, it must be considered that, in the event of an accident, someone could sue the Municipality. Saving on maintenance, therefore, could prove to be counterproductive and cause even higher costs in terms of compensation for damage ».
