Berlusconi on the Aid Decree: “We ask Draghi for a majority check”

ROME. Green light from the Chamber of the Chamber to the Aid, but the text – approved in Montecitorio with 266 votes in favor and 47 against, which now goes to the Senate, where it will have to be approved, under penalty of forfeiture, within this week – passed without the vote of M5S deputies, who did not participate in the final vote. This sparked an initiative by Silvio Berlusconi. «We ask President Mario Draghi to escape this politically blackmailing logic and to take note of the situation that has arisen. Just as we were responsible for setting up the Draghi government, so will we be in the last part of the legislature. This is why we ask that there be a majority verification in order to understand which political forces intend to support the government, not alternately and for electoral gains, but to make reforms and protect the interests of Italians “, says the president of FI, Silvio Berlusconi on the hypothesis that the M5s does not vote the Aid to the Chamber decree.

Speaking of the 5 Stars, Berlusconi continues: “Today the 5Stelle Movement, after a political wear and tear close to raging, has decided to disavow a fundamental provision for the country, such as the Aid decree, and is preparing not to vote on it in the Chamber of Deputies after trusting the government. It is an act of political schizophrenia and above all a serious vulnus that reveals a deficit of responsibility and seriousness. The 5Stelle have decided to play on the skin of Italy in the illusion of obtaining a consensus dividend. It is unacceptable ». In his note, the blue leader also underlines the position of his party with respect to the Draghi government: “With the awareness that by invoking the vote immediately Forza Italia and the center-right would have won, a year and a half ago I worked instead to create the conditions they had. allowed the birth of the government led by Mario Draghi. It was an act of seriousness and responsibility towards our country: it was necessary to take the side of the Italians and face the emergencies linked to the pandemic and its economic and social consequences. Forza Italia has therefore always acted in the wake of this imperative: to overcome – and well – the emergencies, to which were added in 2022 the international one linked to the war in Ukraine and more recently the drought. We have accepted to form a majority with antithetical parties far from the culture of Forza Italia to accompany the country in this difficult path. The essential and indispensable condition was to put aside the programs of the individual parties, focusing solely on the current challenges, starting with the implementation of the NRP. So we have done day after day by sacrificing many of our instances ».
