BOLLENGO. It becomes a showcase of Katuma – as the e-commerce portal of Canavese food and wine excellences is called -, the multipurpose center born from the renovation of the former Dopolavoro club in via Giovanni Cossavella 44, locality Perno, in Bollengo. A decision taken by the municipal administration not to leave the building empty after the management gives up.

«The showcase – explains the mayor Luigi Ricca – will have an experimental character until the end of the year, when a new announcement will be prepared. Katuma will guarantee the opening of the center by organizing tasting initiatives of the products that are part of its “basket” ».

According to the agreement, approved by the council, Levior, the company that owns the Katuma brand, will also pay the Municipality a flat fee of 2,300 euros and will take care of routine maintenance and cleaning. It will also have to guarantee an opening time for the use of the structure that maintains its characteristic of a meeting place in particular for the youngest. In fact, the playground is located in the area.

The Perno center will be open from Monday to Friday, from 2pm to 10.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 10.30pm. Visitors will be welcomed by Giorgia Caserio, former collaborator of the mayor of Chiaverano Maurizio Fiorentini in the Katuma project. A program of initiatives is being planned to link knowledge to the discovery of Canavese flavors, including exhibitions and small concerts that will enliven the Bollenghina summer. «The previous managers – adds Ricca – have given up before the deadline for personal reasons. And we immediately looked for a valid alternative to not close the center. Katuma seemed to us the most suitable because it enhances our territorial excellences, including those of our famous De Stefani pasta factory and of the Impieri pastry shop. After the experimental phase we will evaluate whether to continue entrusting the management. We therefore hope that Katuma meets the tastes of the public ».

The multipurpose center has changed its face to an area of ​​the center: the dilapidated farmhouse had been transformed into a modern multipurpose structure made of ecologically sustainable material, connected to an agora, through a portico to become a youth gathering center and an information point and a stop for tourists who cross the Via Francigena. Katuma (from Piedmontese “we buy”) instead developed in 2017 from an intuition of Fiorentini, mayor and computer scientist, and Giorgia Caserio, tourist operator, with the aim of creating a network between producers of food and wine excellences, restaurateurs and accommodation facilities , making food an identity element of the local culture.
