The only Sicilian municipality is in third place, the Sardinian center of Baunei (Nuoro) in second
PALERMO – The municipality of the Madonie, the only Sicilian participant, that is Geraci Siculo, climbs on the podium but fails to aspire to the maximum success, finishing third in the standings in the race for the title of the Borghi d’Italia. Despite the beauties and attractions, the municipality of Madonie is placed behind the winning Tropea (Calabria) and Baunei (Nuoro) second. The definitive ranking of this edition of the “most beautiful village in Italy” was unveiled last night by the host Camila Raznovic, during the episode of Kilimanjaro on RaiTre.
The competition, which in the past has reserved great satisfactions for Sicily with four municipalities, winner of past editions (Sambuca di Sicilia, Montalbano Elicona, Ganci and Petralia Soprana, the latter two countries always in the Madonie) this time crowned Calabria.
Geraci Siculo fought to the last in this long marathon of appeals and invitations, a success anyway thanks to this important television showcase that relaunches the country towards new economic and tourist perspectives.
A place that many will try to get to know and discover as soon as the situation linked to the Covid emergency allows it and that certainly will not disappoint expectations.
