On September 25, 2021, the Federation of Hong Kong Citizens Supporting Patriotic and Democratic Movements (Hong Kong Stake or Stake) held a special membership meeting and passed the dissolution resolution with 41 votes in favor, 4 votes against, and 0 abstentions. This is a painful decision made by the Hong Kong Alliance under the brutal high pressure of the CCP’s authoritarian authorities.
The Hong Kong Alliance was born on May 21, 1989, during the Global Chinese Parade in Hong Kong to support the Chinese student movement. Its purpose is “to release the pro-democracy activists; to vindicate the 1989 pro-democracy movement; to pursue the responsibility for the massacre; to end the one-party dictatorship; to build a democratic China.” As soon as the Hong Kong Alliance was established, it strongly supported the student movement in the Mainland, hoping to prevent the massacre from happening. However, for the self-interest of one person, one party, the butcher Deng Xiaoping still held high the butcher knife and mobilized the regular army to use tank machine guns to kill unarmed students and citizens.
After the June 4th Massacre, the Hong Kong Alliance immediately launched the “Operation Cardinal” to rescue student leaders and pro-democracy activists wanted by the CCP. The Hong Kong Alliance rescued hundreds of people, and 15 of the 23 student leaders who were arrested in the wanted warrant were rescued. This is the righteous deed of the Hong Kong Alliance for Heaven and Xingdao, the swan song of the times. The CCP is brutal and bloodthirsty, it kills people, kills people and kills people, and the Hong Kong branch saves people. The annual June 4th candlelight mourning rally held by the Hong Kong Alliance at Victoria Park in Hong Kong and the June 4th parade on the previous Sunday are the world‘s largest June 4th commemoration events. The Hong Kong Alliance has also supported the pro-democracy activists in mainland China for a long time, and holds annual seminars on China’s national conditions, seminars on the relationship between Hong Kong and mainland China, flowers on Ching Ming Festival, long-distance running for democracy, propaganda in various districts, Mid-Autumn Festival Democratic Lights Campaign, sending love to Tiananmen mothers, New Year’s Eve stalls and other activities, and the creation of the June Fourth Memorial Hall. The Hong Kong Alliance has made outstanding contributions to defending human rights and justice and advancing democracy and the rule of law in China.
Although the June Fourth Memorial Hall in Hong Kong was forced to close due to pressure from the Chinese Communist Party, and now the Hong Kong Alliance has been forced to dissolve, the online “June 4th Memory·Human Rights Museum” created by the Hong Kong Alliance has officially opened. The website is located abroad, the CCP can’t control it, and it can never be closed. The online June Fourth Museum will always record the heinous crimes of the Beijing Massacre by the CCP, and will always record the great achievements of the Hong Kong Alliance.
In July of this year, the Hong Kong Alliance announced that in view of the deterioration of the political environment, it has decided to adopt two preventive measures to reduce the number of members of the Standing Committee and to lay off all staff before the end of July. At present, the remaining seven members of the Standing Committee of the Hong Kong Alliance are all detained or serving their sentences in prison. Before the special membership meeting was held, the chairman of the Hong Kong Alliance, Mr. Li Zhuoren, and the former vice chairman, Mr. He Junren, who were serving their sentences in prison, issued an open letter calling on members to support the “active dissolution” of the Hong Kong Alliance, saying that this is the “best solution.” However, Ms. Zou Xingtong, the detained vice chairman of the Hong Kong Alliance, issued an open letter against the dissolution of the Hong Kong Alliance. Although the Hong Kong Alliance has been disbanded organizationally, the spirit of the Hong Kong Alliance will always exist, and it will always inspire the people of Hong Kong and the entire Chinese people to persevere in destroying the dictatorship and building a palace of democracy.
As we all know, the Hong Kong Alliance is a spontaneous organization established by Hong Kong citizens. But the Chinese Communist Party blatantly planted the Hong Kong Alliance as a “foreign agent.” The CCP is extremely narrow-minded, and has always settled after the autumn. Although the Hong Kong Stake has been disbanded, the CCP may still fabricate various crimes and impose on the Hong Kong Stake, aiming to “break down the Hong Kong Stake and its responsible persons,” in order to deceive and intimidate the people and strengthen the authoritarian rule. . As the British Foreign Secretary Raab said on Twitter on September 8: “Today’s arrest of Hong Kong Stake members is another chilling example of how Beijing used the Hong Kong National Security Act to disrupt Hong Kong’s citizens. Society and stifle political dissent.”
The Hong Kong Alliance is a great organization, a brave group. The program of the Hong Kong Alliance and the 32-year history of resistance represent China’s just conscience and development direction. The forced dissolution of the Hong Kong Alliance is a sign of the total collapse of Hong Kong’s civil society and a sign of China’s political regression under the dictatorship of Xi Jinping.
