VATICAN CITY – The Pope enters the field. In one of the most difficult moments in the history of the Community of Bose, with the transfer of father Enzo Bianchi in Cellole di San Gimignano, in Tuscany, requested by the Vatican but not yet happened, is Pope francesco to take pen and paper and to express in a letter addressed to Prior Luciano Manicardi his solidarity with the Community. “I wish to express my closeness and support to you with all my heart in this period of severe trial that you are going through in order to live your vocation faithfully,” writes Francis. And again: “I am well aware of how much in recent months the serious difficulties that had led to the Apostolic Visitation and the issuing of the singular Decree have unfortunately increased due to the prolonged delay between the execution of the decisions of the Holy See”.

In the letter – received yesterday by the Community, published today, March 18, and dated March 12 – the Pope invites the Community to “persevere in the initial intuition of a fraternal life in charity and a witness to the search for evangelical radicalism in prayer, work and hospitality. The ecumenical dimension that characterizes you and your active yearning for Christian unity are a precious treasure that the Church wishes to preserve, watching over its authenticity and fruitfulness. Do not be disturbed by rumors that aim to throw discord among you: the good of authentic fraternal communion – indicates again Pope francesco – it must be kept even when the price to pay is high! Just as fidelity in such moments allows us to grasp even more the voice of the One who calls and gives the strength to follow him ”. Finally, Bergoglio underlines that “the presence next to you of the Pontifical Delegate, father Amedeo Cencini, and his work in harmony with the Cardinal Secretary of State are a sign of my constant concern: do not feel abandoned in this impervious stage of your journey! The Pope is next to each of you ”.

Francesco reiterates, therefore, his support for Cencini and the new course in Bose, despite a few days ago Enzo Bianchi had made it known that the “no” to the transfer to Tuscany was due to “inhuman and offensive conditions of dignity”. Bose owes everything to Bianchi. The Community was founded by him and by him it was helped to grow. For the Holy See, however, it can and must have a future without its founder. Bianchi, a few years ago, had already resigned from the leadership of the Community but evidently his presence in Bose does not favor a serene everyday life. Already other foundations such as that of Bose have suffered the removal of the founder, voluntary or not. In Bose this passage seems to be very difficult, almost impossible. Hence the Vatican apostolic visit. Hence the descent into the field of Francesco.
