Bribes to the Ministry of Education, the editor of the Dire agency arrested

The press agency has been managing the Region’s journalistic information service since this year

As part of an investigation into corruption, the Rome Finance Police arrested Federico Bianchi di Castelbianco, 69, editor of the Dire news agency. In recent months, the latter has won the tender for the management of the journalistic information service of the Region, taking over from Ansa.

According to the investigations, three companies of which Bianchi di Castelbianco is the administrator have received credit from schools for about 23 million euros between 2018 and 2021. A former executive of the Ministry of Education is accused of having received from the entrepreneur and publisher , in exchange for the credit lines, favors for over 500 thousand euros including expenses for medical treatments, car rentals, payment of leases, bank transfers and other utilities.

“The journalists of the Dire press agency, also representing the technical and administrative areas of the company, having learned the news regarding the current measures against the publisher, underline that their work goes on guaranteeing professional continuity and the commitment that gives always distinguishes them in describing the territories and institutions ». The CDR of the Dire news agency writes it in a note. “The measures announced today by the competent authorities, despite their relevance – continues the note -, do not affect and will not affect the dedication and quality of work expressed daily and can be measured consistently in the news, on the website and on social platforms”.
