Burns shed with Eternit roof: fear in San Biagio di Callalta

A passer-by gave the alarm: effects for the air are feared. The man woke up the business owner and avoided the worst

SAN BIAGIO. Shed with Eternit roof catches fire, anti-contamination teams on site. Hours of work, yesterday morning, for the firefighters of Treviso and Motta di Livenza, who intervened in Fagarè della Battaglia, in via Postumia Est, where the Paladin fruit and vegetable company is located, with four teams.

A small shed of about 70-80 meters with an Eternit roof used as a tool shed was set on fire. Inside a tractor and some wood. The fighters began putting out the fire shortly after six in the morning and only finished at noon.

On site there is also a team for the decontamination of the operators involved in the operation and an earthmoving team for the dismantling necessary to secure the site and ensure that there are no health hazards.

From a first reconstruction by the police who intervened on the spot, it does not seem that the origin of the fire can be attributed to third parties, or that it is somehow malicious, but rather to be attributed to accidental causes.

The first to notice and give the alarm was a passer-by who was going to work, and who knows the family that owns the fruit and vegetables, which has done everything possible to attract the attention of the owners. «He saw the shed burning» tell the Paladins «he called, then he climbed over the gate of the house, he went to wake up my brother to warn him of the fire». In the meantime, he quickly called the fire brigade to ask for help and warn them of what was happening. It was thanks to him that the worst was avoided, since everyone was still sleeping and the flames were already eating the roof of the shed, the stacked wood and the tractor inside.

Now the Eternit will be disposed of by a specialized company that will take care of it. The mayor, Alberto Cappelletto, awaits the report of the fire brigade and the surveys, after which his Ecology office will decide how to proceed and will give indications to the owners.
