Bus drivers are trained to protect lives in Santa Marta

The district administration together with the National Road Safety Agency is advancing in pedagogical strategies to reduce the number of road accidents.

The District Administration of Santa Marta through the Ministry of Mobility in conjunction with the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV), continues to work on in favor of the life and safety of residents and visitors who pass through the city, not only through controls and operationsbut also through educational activities and campaigns such as ‘Together we protect life on the road’, which on this occasion trained collective public transport drivers.

The mobility secretary Ernesto Castro Coronado in dialogue with EL INFORMADOR, expressed the following “after a great job they were 117 drivers associated with the different companies and bus routes in the city who were in this training processwith which we seek to raise awareness about the main risk factors to which carriers and passengers are exposed,” said Ernesto.

The drivers received simulator training with virtual reality technology, which model scenarios typical of the roads of Colombia and where they identified how to prevent road accidents.

For his part, Wainer Carrascal, said “we thank the Mayor’s Office and the agency for these trainings that help the driver have better skills on the road and can solve some situations that imply some risk when driving on the roads from District. Here we learned about blind spots, safe speeds, reaction to a road accident, traffic signs, among other important topics”. Wainer said.

It is necessary to remember that these educational campaigns will continue to be carried out in the city, with the purpose of guaranteeing the safety and life of the different actors on the road. The next training will be on the 15th and 16th of this month in the multiple fields located in front of the minor coliseum, for taxi drivers, and later they will be held for motorcyclists and bicyclists.
