Caluso, a second ambulance arrives for the continuous emergencies

by admin

Good news for the 80 volunteers. They do more than 10 thousand km a month, services tripled for Covid

CALUSO

The fleet of rescue volunteers in the south Canavese di Caluso is still growing, for 37 years engaged in the 118 emergency service and in social and health transport with eighty operational volunteers and seven employees. From this month, a second basic ambulance for emergency services is activated, available on weekends in order to increase coverage in the area. Fundamental in a period of pandemic where interventions have tripled.

«We strongly believe in this new project – says Eugenio Abellonio, the president of the association associated with Anpas – and we count on expanding the service to the remaining days of the week in the coming months. We know this is an extra effort for all volunteers. This is why we plan to organize a new training course next September to become rescuers well aware that there is always someone who needs us for an urgent intervention or for transport to hospitals and specialist centers. This means for us to be a volunteer: to donate some of your time to help others within an association where there is room for everyone, where the search for new volunteers is always active because the activities are many and one hand is always welcome just as it is done in a large family ».

There are therefore five ambulances in service, two of which are equipped for 118. The second Tango, purchased thanks to a loan from the CRT Foundation, was inaugurated last September. Exceptional godmother was the president of Ascom of Turin Maria Luisa Coppa. The headquarters of the Volunteers remain in the outpatient clinic in via Roma. Here is the operations center, connected to the national 112 system, which manages the advanced rescue station with two Tango equipped for emergency aid with the doctor on board. And then there are the three means for basic aid and for socio-medical transport: a Doblò for the transport of dialysis patients, and two cars for socio-medical transport, aimed at private individuals. The South Canavese Rescue Volunteers are one of the 83 Piedmontese associations of the Anpass and deal with social and health activities throughout the national territory. Since 2001 they have an agreement with the 118 for emergency rescue in twenty-four hours on three shifts, and also for civil protection. Their interventions continue to grow from year to year, both in the field of emergencies 118 and in that of social and health transport. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Rescue Volunteers have been involved in the transport of Covid-19 patients throughout the Canavese area, with an average of 10 thousand kilometers a month. –
