CALUSO. Summer for children residing in the Lower Canavese area, at least for the younger ones, aged 3 to 13, has taken off with one less summer camp, at Caluso, but with a doubling in Volpiano. In the city of wine it was not possible to repeat the happy experience of the summer camp, which, under the direction of the parish, had taken place at the San Andrea oratory and had seen the collaboration of the Municipality, the Pro loco and the traders.
«We were unable to prepare a staff of trained volunteers in good time – explains the parish priest Don Loris Cena -. To do this we had to wait for the updates on the reopening related to the Covid emergency which only arrived in May. And I certainly don’t feel like improvising a delicate management like that of summer camps. The oratory is not a holiday club: people are also needed who are qualified to transmit the values of the Christian faith. Reluctantly then I had to give up ».
From July 1st, however, the one organized by the Guala kindergarten will start, which belongs to the parish moral body. «In that case – adds Don Loris – an organization already exists and there are no problems of space, neither inside nor outside. It will be reserved for children aged between 3 and 7 and will remain open until the end of July. Various activities are on the program and an aquatic course at the Gimmy villag swimming pool »e. And for the little ones the baby club in via Diaz is also open until August 13th. «After overcoming numerous organizational difficulties – explains Martina Ponzetti, head of the Baby club association – we also left with the nursery. We have divided the internal area and the garden, in which we have set up a beautiful gazebo, into four spaces. Here the activities will take place, but also lunch and a snack, which can no longer take place in a common area. The children will be divided into groups and followed by an educator, favoring outdoor activities ».
Older children will therefore have to turn to the summer centers organized in the neighboring municipalities. TO San Giorgio Canavese, where the synergy between the Municipality and the parish remains firm, and has produced an articulated program. TO Mazzè, again under the direction of the parish priest Don Alberto Carlevato, who also gathers the children of Villareggia. Numerous trips in the area and two days (Tuesdays and Fridays) to be spent in the swimming pool in Cigliano. For this year there is no transport service and parents must accompany the children to the various meeting places. It starts on June 28 and continues until July 16, for children aged 6 to 13 (for info contact the number 3472722225). TO Candia the summer center takes place along the shores of the lake, organized by the Lago di Candia & sport association, which relies on qualified entertainers: the activities are many, including courses and workshops.
Boom in registrations a Volpiano which had to open a second office. To accommodate all 116 children enrolled in the summer camps, the municipal administration has activated other spaces at the Ghirotti primary school, in addition to that of the Arcobaleno kindergarten. The new service is operational from 5 to 30 July. The decision was taken after the deadline for registration, set for 10 June, when a request was found significantly higher than the 50 places initially foreseen. «The applications for enrollment in the 2021 summer centers – underlines the mayor Emanuele De Zuanne – were 116 (56 for kindergarten and 60 for primary school); for this reason the offices have taken steps to find a solution that would meet the families, providing the new service to the Ghirotti school.Lydia Massia
