A “real” appointment for Campiglione Fenile. The Municipality, with just over 1,300 inhabitants in the metropolitan area of Turin, confers honorary citizenship on Paola Ruffo di Calabria, princess of Liège and queen mother of Belgium.
The ceremony on Tuesday 2 November, in the late afternoon in the town hall and then in the Le Cinque Frecce farmhouse, in the presence of her husband, King Albert II of Belgium.
The bond with Campiglione dates back to the queen’s childhood, when she spent the summer holidays as a guest of her older sister, Maria Cristina, on the estate of the Marquises of San Germano.
Tuesday is “an important and significant appointment for Campiglione Fenile and for the whole Pinerolo area”, explains the mayor Paolo Rossetto, recalling “the historic closeness of the queen to our community, the continuous visits and the dialogue maintained with many Campiglionesi during the its presence in our Municipality “.
