New strategic passage of the works for the construction of the drainage channel in Villaga, which was designed to protect the hamlet from debris flows from Mount Tomatico and now will have to cross via Villaga.

For this reason, the stretch of road between house number 22 and 28 will be closed to traffic for three weeks, from Saturday 1st May to Friday 21st, every day including holidays. The transit ban applies to all vehicles, including buses.

To carry out the intervention is the Hypogeum company, which is carrying out the long-awaited work by the inhabitants to solve the long-standing hydrogeological problems of the hamlet. Avoiding the triggering of debris flows from Mount Tomatico along a channel that is devoid of water for most of the year, but which becomes a real stream in times of storms and intense rainfall, so much so as to dig the ground and drag itself along behind mud, earth and boulders.

The flow of debris that in the autumn of 2014 had poured from the mountain, threatening the houses of the hamlet and forcing the evacuation of twenty-two people, is imprinted in the memory of all, but on more than one occasion the fragility of the territory has emerged under the waves of bad weather.

This hydrogeological safety work is carried out to guarantee the livability of the town. This is the one million euro project under the direction of the Province to intercept rainwater, before it can erode the ground, and convey it to the natural drain in the Aurich river, downstream of the town. A complex work, structured in a set of various interventions, which include the arrangement of the upstream channel, the expansion of the storage tank to slow down the force of the water and the excavation of the new discharge channel, almost 500 meters long, which in its development will cross via Barucce and via Villaga. Once all of them are joined in pieces, the fraction will be protected.
