Cannabis referendum, 500,000 signatures reached: to vote by spring 2022

by admin

A week was enough to reach the 500,000 signatures needed: Italians will vote for the Referendum on the legalization of Cannabis by the spring of 2022.

The Promoting Committee, formed by Associations Luca Coscioni, Meglio Legale, Forum Droghe, Società della Ragione, Antigone and the + Europa, Possibile and Radicali Italian parties, had begun to collect subscriptions on 11 September last, and expected to reach the necessary threshold by September 30th. In any case, the organizers invite you to continue to sign to make the result even safer, and be sure to be able to deliver the Referendum to the Supreme Court.

This is the first collection of signatures organized entirely online, on the referendumcannabis.it website. The Referendum aims to repeal the Decree of the President of the Republic 309/1990, the Consolidated Law on the discipline of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

“This is an extraordinary but not surprising result: an intervention on the subject of cannabis has long been needed and with the digital signature in a few days the theme has exploded”, the organizers commented.
