Castelfranco, Colombo schools: there is chaos at the entrances

Via Trieste remained two-way, the parents denounce the serious risk of accidents and gatherings

CASTELFRANCO. Colombo School, danger lurking for children and parents during the phases of entry and exit from lessons: this is what the parents committee points out at the end of the first week of school.

The problem is caused by the high gathering at the gate in via Trieste, also due to the way in which children are welcomed: the rules in fact provide that they are personally entrusted to teachers, a procedure that implies longer times for waiting and the presence of numerous people outside. But the thing would not be so problematic if, at least during the entry and exit times, this stretch of Via Trieste was closed to traffic. However, this is not the case: the road remains two-way, cars are parked on the side of the road, also hindering the maneuvers of the school bus.

In such a situation, in which the many waiting pedestrians occupy the roadway because the sidewalk is too narrow, and the cars contmeanwhile inuano to circulate, there is also the concern that what no one would like might happen.

The criticality of access / exit was also created last year, when the Colombo elementary school moved from the historic headquarters in via Puccini to the Sarto middle school complex a few meters away: two “autonomous” presences also for the accesses , where that of the Colombo overlooks via Trieste. «Also last year the same problem was found – explain the representatives of the committee – but we had intervened with mobile signals that indicated at least the one way during the hours of entry and exit. Now those signals have been placed in a corner, where they lie unused, and via Trieste continues to be two-way with the relative consequences ».

The request that the parents of the pupils make to the Municipality is to intervene to regulate traffic in these delicate hours: but the common sense of those who accompany their children to school is also appealed: “Over the years it was hoped to obtain a suitable sidewalk in via Trieste to contain the large passage of children, teenagers and carers, but this has never happened: through the one-way street we tried to limit traffic a little but today unfortunately this signal is not applied and the inconvenience persists – continues the committee – After observing the situation, let’s try to give some advice counting on the sensitivity of those who at 8 in the morning and at 4 in the afternoon are in via Trieste to bring and collect the children. For example: park further if there is no space in front of the gate; or leave the first two parking spaces free for those twenty minutes of “panic”. But also: why not help us among parents and maybe support us, for example, if someone is on the street, accompanying other children to school in addition to their own? And finally, we can move forward if we want to chat so as to allow everyone to be seen by the child who comes after and therefore reduce the waiting at the entrance. There will probably be a gate instead of that goal and we will probably be able to get out more easily: in the meantime, let’s all work hard to improve this situation ».

Last but not least, the problem relating to gatherings, which due to the anti-contagion rules are absolutely to be avoided in front of the school and instead are registered on time.
