Only 7.52 per 1000 inhabitants against the ratio of 8.52 in 2020
(ANSA) – BEIJING, JANUARY 17 – The birth rate in China fell to an all-time low in 2021, reaching a ratio of 7.52 births per 1,000 people, down from 8.52 in 2020. Based on data by the National Statistical Office, this is the lowest figure ever recorded in the country’s Statistical Yearbook since 1978 and is also the lowest since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. Last year the country recorded a total of 10, 62 million births. (HANDLE).
