In April 2016, the State Council approved the pilot reform of the ecological environment damage compensation system in Jilin, Jiangsu, Shandong, Hunan, Chongqing, Guizhou, and Yunnan.
In December 2017, the “Eco-environmental Damage Compensation System Reform Plan” issued by the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the State Council proposed that from January 1, 2018, the ecological environment damage compensation system will be piloted nationwide. The promulgation of this plan indicates that the reform of the ecological environment damage compensation system has moved from a pilot trial to a national trial stage.
Bie Tao said that in accordance with the “Eco-environmental Damage Compensation System Reform Plan”, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment actively promotes the coordinated efforts of localities and relevant departments, and all provinces and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and 388 cities (including municipalities and counties) have issued implementation plans. .
