Cinemas, restaurants and gyms, the protocols being studied for gradual reopening

by admin

The last word will go to the control room, led by Draghi, in which the representatives of the majority political forces participate. Reopening, yes, but safely, is the goal that the Prime Minister is working towards in these hours. Much will depend on the indications on the progress of coronavirus infections that will emerge from the weekly monitoring of the Higher Institute of Health, expected for Friday 16 April. The trend of the vaccination campaign will also be taken into consideration. Once this information has been acquired, it will be possible to indicate a date when you can begin to loosen the grip. The meeting of the control room has not yet been called.

The next steps towards a first loosening of the grip

A point with Draghi ministers and technicians could make it in the second half of the week. So far what could be the roadmap towards a first form of reopening. Certainly, government sources note, there can be no real reopening before we have secured the elderly and the most vulnerable. Also for this reason it is difficult for the grip of the closures to be significantly relaxed before the end of April.

Priority to the definition of security protocols

In view of this path, the premier has already indicated to start planning how to reopen – we think in ministerial circles – when the time comes, starting with protocols that are not too rigid for activities that are already in great trouble. It is a job that the Prime Minister carries out in contact with the Minister Roberto Speranza but also with Franco Locatelli of the CTS and the Commissioner Francesco Paolo Figliuolo. Since these hours we have been working to study how to allow cinemas and theaters, bars and restaurants, gyms, fairs and events, to restart safely.

It starts with museums, cinemas, theaters and live shows

For this reason, work began on the safety protocols of the various sectors, starting with the world of culture and catering. The Scientific Technical Committee began with requests from museums, cinemas, theaters and live performances, which ask to be able to return to work and aim at an expansion of the capacity allowed so far from 200 people to 400 indoors and from 400 to a thousand outdoors. . The coordinator of the CTS Franco Locatelli and the spokesman Silvio Brusaferro had an interview with the Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini. In the next few hours, the minister will send the CTS a hypothesis, which foresees with the return of the yellow zone (excluded until 30 April by the decree law currently in force) a reopening of cinemas and theaters no longer with a maximum capacity of 25% – indicated in the previous protocol – but by 50%. It would go from a maximum limit of 200 spectators indoors to 500, and from 400 to a thousand outdoors. Instead, the hypothesis of the obligatory tampon loses strength before setting foot in the cinema or theater. For museums, the hypothesis is that of reopening on the basis of timed visits and compulsory itineraries.

Pressing of restaurateurs to adopt the January rules

The other sector is that of catering: in the next few hours the Fipe (Italian Federation of public businesses) will see the Minister of Economic Development Giancarlo Giorgetti to submit to him the protocol already presented in January which provided for restaurants open also in the evening in the yellow areas and at lunch in those areas. orange, with reservations required. Line that will hardly pass the scrutiny of the CTS even if the goal of all is to restart at least the premises that have open spaces and are in the yellow area, and then continue with the rest. In May, with an acceleration of the vaccination campaign and coverage of 75% of people over 70, it could be possible to go back to dining outside the home, even counting on a postponement of the curfew from 10 pm today to midnight. The premises could therefore open in the evening, but only those that have dehors and outdoor tables. A hypothesis, the latter, which does not satisfy the activities that cannot rely on these structures.
