Commissioner Figliuolo arrives in Friuli: the Region asks for the possibility of vaccinating those under 60 and certainties on the doses

UDINE. Certainties. On the influx of doses, on the continuation of the vaccination campaign and on the possibility of opening the agendas even to those under 60 to accelerate the immunization of the regional population.

Three requests, of security in fact, that Massimiliano Fedriga – just released from quarantine in Piazza Unità – and Riccardo Riccardi will present to the head of the Civil Protection department, Fabrizio Curcio, and, above all, to General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo who will be in Friuli Venezia on Monday 26 April Giulia for the double stage of Palmanova and Gemona.

Let’s proceed in order, therefore, and start from the first of the requests, perhaps the most important: to obtain certainty of the quantity and type of the incoming vials.

The Region, in fact, in recent days has slowed down the speed of administration of vaccines because it awaits confirmation from the commissioner.

From Rome, unofficially, they announced the dispatch of about 50,000 vaccine doses overall for this week, of which 40,000 Pfizer, and 80,000 for the first of May with at least half always by the American company. which is proving, day after day, the most punctual and stable in deliveries.

The problem is that, according to ministerial provisions, those between 60 and 79 years old must be immunized with AstraZeneca as a matter of priority, which instead, as is well known, is not respecting the contract signed with the European Union.

The Region, therefore, wants to understand how many doses of AstraZeneca are actually planned in May – at the moment there are only more or less 30,000 at the beginning of the month which are also needed for the first recalls – and, if so, whether to divert, as Lombardy is doing for the same reasons, at least a part of Pfizer vials (and Moderna although they are few) in the 60-79 year range.

There is more, moreover, because beyond the fact that the arrival of vaccines becomes essential to be able to reach the new targets set by Figliuolo for Friuli Venezia Giulia – with 10,000 administrations set for Thursday -, the requests of the Region also touch a second level and concern, in summary, the categories and vaccination agendas.

On Sunday 25, as regards those who have not yet received the first dose, Friuli Venezia Giulia moves on more or less 140,000 booked to be immunized.

If it is true, however, that, according to the commissioner, 15 million doses are arriving in Italy in May, and therefore another 300,000 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Region needs on the one hand to open up to further adhesions and, on the other hand, to understand if Rome intends to maintain the current schedule of the vaccination plan after the age of 60 – with the coverage of those suffering from non-serious diseases without age limits – or if it will continue to favor a concept linked to age by focusing, for example, on the 50 year olds.

Finally, there is also a last theme and it concerns Johnson & Johnson. At the moment, 3,000 500 units of the single-dose vaccine have arrived – and another 5,000 500 are expected by the end of the month – to be used for the over 60s.

The Region, however, has not used even one at the moment because it wants to understand if it is appropriate to concentrate the vials on a category or there is no specific indication. –
