CONEGLIANO. In the early 1980s he was one of the best known boxers, not only locally. Ernesto Ros died on Friday evening at the Vittorio Veneto hospital, he was 69 years old. He lived in Mareno with his wife Lauretta, with whom he had children Mirco and Eros.

Originally from Ferrara, on 27 July 1983 Ernesto Ros in Copparo won the title of Italian middleweight champion by beating Daniele Zappaterra. He defended the title of Italian middleweight champion on 2 March 1984 in Conegliano by drawing with Rosario Pacileo, a title he then lost on 11 October 1984 in Roseto degli Abruzzi, losing to Luigi Marini.

The funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10.30 in the church of Bocca di Strada (Mareno).
