Conegliano, opens the new Center for prenatal diagnostics and fetal medicine

On the second floor of the hospital there is a multidisciplinary team specialized in the diagnosis of fetal pathologies. Three obstetric-ultrasound clinics are available

CONEGLIANO. The Prenatal Diagnostic Center of the Conegliano hospital now has an ad hoc site. The operational unit directed by Dr. Alberto Rossi will operate in a dedicated and appropriately renovated space, located on the second floor of Santa Maria dei Battuti, in which three obstetric – ultrasound clinics, a room dedicated to counseling and a waiting room have been created. .

The operating unit, which makes use of a technologically advanced 3D and 4D ultrasound machine fleet, ensures the delivery of fetal diagnostic services. Access to the Center will take place on medical advice, upon reservation. “With the activation of the new ultrasound center – emphasizes Dr. Rossi – we will have a dedicated and structured space in which to carry out the prenatal diagnostic and fetal medicine consultancy, which are integrated into the hub-spoke system not only in hospital but also territorial hospital of the Treviso area. For the evaluation of pathological cases, a multidisciplinary medical team will be available, specialized in the pediatric field and consisting of a pediatrician and gynecologist as well as a geneticist, neonatologist, surgeon and urologist “.

The Diagnostic Center was activated in September 2019, with the main mission being ultrasound screening of fetal malformations in order to identify any genetic pathologies and syndromes in the fetus early. «The activation of the new Center – says the general manager, Francesco Benazzi – represents a further step forward on the road to enhance the Conegliano hospital. As regards, in particular, the operating unit of obstetrics-gynecology, of which the obstetric ultrasound center is a part, the arrival of Dr. Giuseppe Dal is expected within days, with a consultancy contract pending the appointment of the new head physician. Pozzo, expert and highly esteemed professional, former director of the Ca ‘Foncello obstetrics-gynecology unit for a long time ».

Equipped with a latest generation ultrasound machine park, the specialists of the Center for Prenatal Diagonism are able to perform both first and, above all, second level obstetric ultrasound scans, aimed at the diagnosis and classification of the various maternal-fetal pathologies. The team of the center evaluates the individual pathological cases and, in case of need, also makes use of the Radiology Service of the Ca ‘Foncello of Treviso for the targeted execution of fetal magnetic resonances.
