Against the high cost of living, consumers take to the streets united on 10 June for the “protest of empty pots”. The associations – in fact all the main consumerism acronyms – will present a platform of interventions to calm prices and fight speculation, asking the government to include consumer representatives among the social partners. “We are in the presence – it is explained – not of a generic nor temporary increase, but of a real emergency, fueled by unjustifiable speculative phenomena, which is forcing families to sacrifice and deprive that will have important consequences”.

The consumer complaint

“Inflation and expensive bills not only change the economic behavior of consumers, leading them to cut purchases even for essential goods such as food, but they also cause significant damage to our economy, in terms of GDP, employment and incidence of poverty – says the President of Assoutenti, Furio Truzzi – This is why we take to the streets and ask the Government to receive us to study together with the consumer associations solutions to overcome the emergency ».

The interventions requested against the expensive prices

The Associations will present on 10 June a platform of interventions to calm prices and fight speculation, asking the Government to include consumer representatives among the social partners to discuss the fight against energy poverty, support for families and the most fragile subjects, on the determination and surveillance of prices, on tax burdens.

The initiative is organized by Adiconsum, Adoc, Adusbef, Asso-Consum, Assoutenti, Radio and TV Services Users Association, Consumer House, Cittadinanzattiva, Codacons, Codes, Confconsumatori, Consumer and User Protection Center, Federconsumatori, Consumer League, Movimento Consumatori, Movimento Defense of the Citizen.
