Conte’s new M5S already loses a piece, Senator Botto leaves: “It’s no longer my home”

ROME. «This is a difficult post, a goodbye post. I am leaving the 5 Star Movement which, for too long now, has no longer been my political home. I have waited, I have endured and I have tried, but it makes no sense to continue living in the hope of improvements that I do not see and to be part of a force by which I no longer feel represented and which I can no longer represent with conviction. In politics, compromise, mediation, have a positive and even noble value if they are upwards, not downwards. Over time there have been too many declines. This crisis began with confidence in the Draghi government and ends today, with the hope that I will be able to better represent the citizens from the opposition benches in the Mixed Group ». So Elena Botto, in a post on Facebook, announces the farewell to the M5S.

«I wish my former colleagues good work in the hope that they can achieve useful results for the country. As for me, I will continue to carry out our battles as I always have, freer from those logic of power that paralyze every initiative, with a critical but constructive spirit and with renewed enthusiasm. To the Movement and to Rousseau – he concludes – I paid everything I had committed to paying up to now. I will continue to allocate part of my salary to initiatives in favor of citizens and the “least”. For those who want to continue to follow me a heartfelt thanks. A farewell, without rancor, to all the others. Every end is also a new beginning ».
