There are 34,978 new cases of Coronavirus positivity registered in the last 24 hours, 449 fewer than the 35,427 detected yesterday. The figure is based on 193,040 swabs, compared to 185,819 the previous day (both rapid antigenic tests and molecular swabs are considered).
Compared to 7 days ago, when there were 22,104 new cases, the figure recorded today marks an increase of 58.2%.
The victims of today
The daily report, released by the Ministry of Health and Civil Protection at 16.01 on Saturday 18 June, also counts 45 victims, 4 more than the 41 recorded yesterday. Compared to the number of deaths recorded on the same day last week (60), today’s figure is down by 25%.
The rate of positivity
The “positive rate”, that is the ratio between the total number of swabs performed and those that are positive, in the last 24 hours fell to 18.1%: it was 19.1% 24 hours ago.
However, today’s figure is increasing compared to that recorded 7 days ago, when the positivity rate was 11.8%.
