Coronavirus, the Sicily bulletin is back: 2,904 new cases and another 21 deaths

by admin

CATANIA – After yesterday’s “hole” due to the investigations that swept the leaders of Sicilian Health, the Region returns to communicate the daily data of the pandemic hoping that from now on they are truthful and not rigged as emerged from the investigation of the Prosecutor of Trapani which from December to March documented at least 40 alterations to the daily bulletins from Sicily. And therefore the data released today, particularly worrying, must be taken with pliers because they concern two days, in the sense that positive hospitalizations and deaths not reported yesterday were added to those of today.

We will therefore have to wait until tomorrow to finally have a “clean” datum that corresponds to reality. But anyway, second the latest bulletin of the Ministry of Health, in Sicily in the last 48 hours there have been 2,904 new cases of Covid and 21 deaths. A real boom in infections, therefore, if we consider that the bulletin of March 29 reported 799 new cases of Covid. In two days the number of new Sars-CoV-2 infections would therefore have more than tripled, compared to only 14,623 processed swabs (think that on March 29 they were 23,280), with an incidence of positives at 7, 0% if we consider the average of the two days. The region would be second today for the number of infections but this is inevitable given that Sicily counts the numbers of two days compared to the other regions that only count the data of the last 24 hours.

With the new 2,904 cases the number of current positives in Sicily is now 19,920 (the day before yesterday they were 17,417), of which 18,889 in home isolation (the day before yesterday they were 16,408), 891 hospitalized with Covid symptoms (they were 876) and 140 hospitalized serious in intensive care wards (there were 133) with 20 new entries in the last 48 hours.

The total cases of coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic in Sicily have instead reached 175,354 (the day before yesterday they were 172,450), healings are 150,806 with only 380 patients discharged or healed in the last 24 hours, while the victims with the last 21 have reached the considerable figure of 4,628.

At the provincial level the many outbreaks in Palermo are the ones that most alarm the health authorities: 1,133 new cases of Covid in the Sicilian capital, then 645 in Catania, 288 in Messina, 211 in Messina, 165 in Trapani, 153 in Syracuse, 147 in Agrigento, 98 in Enna, 64 in Ragusa.
