Covid-19, a sharp decline in vaccinations in the Aosta Valley in August

by admin

Administration halved compared to June and July. Among the hospitalized patients, one was ‘immunized’

With the end of the summer season approaching, the goal of achieving herd immunity for Covid-19 before autumn remains a mirage. In Valle d’Aosta so far only 61.23% of the population has received both doses and 73.8% has received only the first.

The data were provided during a press conference at the Regional Palace to take stock of the vaccination campaign which for the moment involved 81,646 people out of over 110,000 potentially affected by the campaign.

The highest second-dose coverage, around 80%, is in the age group 70 and over. As we age, the percentage of second doses also decreases: around 69% for patients aged 50 to 69; 59.15% for 40-49 year olds; 51.04% for those in their thirties; 41.24% for adults up to 29 years of age; 22.74% between sixteen and seventeen year olds. Between the ages of 12 and 15, one in ten young people received the second dose (479 out of 4,759) and 45.26% was on the first dose.

The big “slowdown” in vaccinations took place in August. The month has yet to end, but there are already 8,477 doses less than the goals set by the campaign. For the moment, about 15 thousand vaccinations have been administered, half of what in June and July.

Covid-19 hospitalizations among the vaccinated

Since June 16, 11 Covid-19 positive patients have been admitted to the Parini hospital in Valle d’Aosta, with an average age of 57.7 years. Eight male patients (mean age 60.3 years) and three female patients (mean age 50.6 years). Among the hospitalized only one completed the vaccination cycle.
