Covid, Europe exceeds 100 million cases since the discovery of the virus

After the flare-up of infections pushed by the Omicron variant

(ANSA) – ROME, 01 JAN – The current flare-up of infections pushed by the Omicron variant of Covid has led Europe to exceed one hundred million cases since the discovery of the coronavirus in December 2019, according to a count by the Afp.

At 18.45 GMT today, Europe – considering 52 countries and territories from the Atlantic to Russia and Azerbaijan – had officially registered 100,074,753 infections, or more than a third of cases worldwide (288,279,803, always according to the AFP). In the last 7 days, Europe has counted over 4.9 million infections, with an increase of 59% compared to the previous week. (HANDLE).
