covid. “Green pass, now civil disobedience”: but Mattie’s mayor remains isolated

by admin

MATTIE. A post published on Facebook was enough to trigger comments and reactions. «So from Monday we will be orange. Piedmont is proud of the number of vaccinations and now the fault lies with the No Vax. We have destroyed public health for private health, produced unconstitutional norms and limited freedom of speech and thought ”. Then the final thrust. “As a servant of the state, I believe the time has come to express a public thought to my citizens and not only: civil disobedience. It’s time to let us hear and I invite colleagues to do the same thing ».

We are in Mattie, a small mountain town in the Val di Susa. And what is surprising, even before the content of the message, is the fact that the mayor Marina Pittau wrote it. “Does it seem normal to you that from 1 February citizens without vaccines will no longer be able to set foot in the post office or present themselves in the Municipality? We must rebel – thunders Pittau -, I intend to send a letter to the employees of the post office to urge them to guarantee the service even to those without a green certificate. If it is for this, I will also write to the prefect of Turin and to the prime minister ».

Formalities that the first citizen intends to follow up, joining the street demonstrations so far deserted due to too many work commitments: «I trust the doctors, I have done two doses and I am awaiting the third administration. In all honesty, if I had been free to choose I would not have been vaccinated, but I still represent the state. I certainly cannot declare war on my own ».

Yet that’s what she now announces she’s ready to do. “I no longer recognize myself in the choices of the government and I do not condemn those who think they can freely dispose of their health. Talking about dictatorship is undoubtedly out of place, but this situation is no longer acceptable ».

For the moment, no mayor from Valsusa seems willing to support the provocation of Mattie’s colleague, whose post has in the meantime collected dozens of shares and comments, criticism and encouragement. A bit like what happened to the owner of the Città del Sole bookshop in Bussoleno, who announced: «The bookshop continues to be open to everyone. Against any policy of hatred and discrimination ”. –
