The incidence of cases per 100 thousand inhabitants: clear improvement in seven provinces out of nine, in Syracuse it improves slightly, in Ragusa a slight deterioration
In one week the situation in Sicily has improved significantly in relation to the number of new cases per 100 thousand inhabitants which is the basis of the declaration of the red zone. Based on the data published by the National Civil Protection Department and processed by the Statistical Office of the municipality of Palermo, the figure improves in all Sicilian provinces: clearly in seven provinces out of nine, slightly instead in Syracuse, while it worsens very little in Ragusa.
In the week that goes from 23 to 29 April, the new positives per 100 thousand inhabitants were 191.8 in the province of Palermo (in the previous week, that is the one from 16 to 22 April they were even 235.94). In Catania from 23 to 29 April the incidence was 177.92 (in the previous week it was 197.04). In Enna the figure says 54.27 (it was 122.01). In Messina 97.17 (the previous week 119). In Syracuse in the last seven days the new cases per 100 thousand inhabitants were 157.85 (the week from 16 to 22 April was 160.43), in Ragusa the last figure says 146.37 (it was 144.47 last week), in Agrigento the last reading was 106.94 (last week it was 137.43, in Caltanissetta the last figure was 174.84 (previously 222.7) and in Trapani instead on 29 April the incidence is 64.3 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants (it was 99.67).
It is therefore difficult for Sicily to become the yellow zone this week, but if the trend continues the next could be the good one.
