Covid, record of daily vaccines in Fvg: the goal is to aim for 10 thousand a day

UDINE. There has been an acceleration, both in Italy and in Friuli Venezia Giulia, and can be seen from the numbers. Of course, the quantity of vaccines administered is not yet as desired, mainly due to a not entirely satisfactory supply, but the steps forward are evident.

In the last two days, in fact, only in Friuli Venezia Giulia have been reached 5 thousand vaccinations per day even if the objective of the Region is the doubling of this quota by the end of April when, that is, according to the government’s programs, in Italy it should reach the figure of 500 thousand daily administrations, deliveries of doses and organization of personnel, of course, permitting.

The start of mass vaccinations, with the opening to the 75-79 age group and vulnerable categories, added to the immunization processes still in progress for the over 80s – which should end no later than the beginning of May – , of the staff of the “old” priority categories – from teachers to the police forces – has clearly expanded the audience of those who are potentially vaccinated. At the same time, moreover, the opening of the two maxi-centers in Udine – at the Fiera – and Trieste – in Porto Vecchio -, to which the one in Pordenone will be added from Monday, has allowed us to press further on the accelerator.

Thus, daily vaccinations in Friuli Venezia Giulia went from an average of around 3,000 500 units in the first days of the week, and previous dates, to 4,000 888 on Thursday and just under 5,000 yesterday. This trend has allowed Friuli Venezia Giulia to reach – the data are updated at 3.30 pm on Friday 26 March – 10.3% of the immunized population with at least one dose and 6%, at the moment the best in Italy. , with also the recall. Only Pfizer and Moderna, however, since AstraZeneca provides for the second injection at the optimal distance of three months and not 21 days like the mRna drugs.

The real turning point, and which given the regional population could really allow us to get out of the pandemic tunnel in a few months, is, however, expected in April. If it is true, in fact, that by the end of March Friuli Venezia Giulia awaits the delivery of another 23,000 400 doses of Pfizer, 24,000 700 of AstraZeneca and 10,000 of Moderna, for a total of 78,000 100 units, it is equally true that the bulk of arrivals, under existing contracts and after the hesitation of these first months, is expected in the second quarter of the year when over 52 million vaccines have been planned for Italy.

This is why Draghi has set a target of half a million doses per day starting from the end of April when our country should also have Johnson & Johnson ampoules available, particularly expected because they are single-dose. “And by the time the government says that it will be necessary to move on 500 thousand doses per day – confirms the councilor for health Riccardo Riccardi – we in Friuli Venezia Giulia will have to reach 10 thousand”.

To achieve the goal, however, good will is not enough, but both the raw material and the staff able to manage the incoming vials are needed. As regards the first point, in the coming weeks a total of 251 thousand doses are expected, which, if the allocation criterion equal to 2% of the national quantity is respected, should rise to 1 million at the end of June. A sufficient amount, in summary, to immunize practically half of the regional population – given that the under 16 cannot be vaccinated -, but probably also a greater range of interested parties considering that a slice between 10% and 20% must always be assumed. of citizens who refuse the vaccine.

And if the fifty vaccination sites, in addition to the large hubs, seem to be more than enough for the purpose, the real question mark concerns the staff. From Rome, as is well known, a mini-reinforcement of 50 people has arrived as a result of the national recruitment call managed by the former commissioner Domenico Arcuri, while the Region focuses, at home, above all on trainees and general practitioners. In the first case, the Health Authorities have already issued their respective calls and we plan to use them shortly. In the second, however, Riccardi communicated to the Council an adhesion of white coats equal to 90% between Trieste and Gorizia, 81% in Pordenone and 77% in Udine.
