Covid, sitting in a pizzeria in Catania as if nothing had happened: fines and closure

Catania – Yesterday evening, the police officers of the Catania Police Headquarters, together with staff from the Local Police-Annona Department, intervened in the offices of two commercial activities, whose owners have been sanctioned for violating the anti Covid rules. The first intervention was carried out in a bar in via Acquedotto Greco, inside which a crowd of customers had been created; the owner, moreover without PPE, continued to administer food after the allowed time. Furthermore, with the help of the Local Police, the ancillary sanction of the closure of the activity for 5 days was ordered.

Subsequently, a pizzeria in via San Nicolò al Borgo was controlled; here the situation that presented itself to the agents was much more serious: inside, in fact, 17 people were surprised sitting at the tables intent on consuming food, in defiance of any precautionary measure. Some of them, on the occasion of a demonstration organized by a protest movement against the provisions of the anti Covid legislation, had already been sanctioned for the violation of the same rules. All were sanctioned, including the owner of the commercial activity to whom the ancillary sanction of closure for 5 days was also applied. In this case, considering the social dangerousness shown by having totally ignored the measures provided for the containment of pandemic and the danger of contagion generated by the presence of more people inside the premises, the Police Commissioner Della Cioppa is evaluating further and more serious measures.
