SALERNO – There are 190 thousand people still to be vaccinated in the province of Salerno to reach the so-called safety threshold or herd immunity of 75% of the resident population covered by the anticovid vaccine. Of these, the over 50s, the group most exposed to the consequences of Covid, are just over 30 thousand. But at the moment, only a thousand in a thousand of all ages are registered on the platform, and, moreover, half are from Salerno city, where vaccination has already reached 67%, compared to the provincial average of 58%.
The greatest difficulties in registering are found in the Agro Nocerino, despite being the area where the pandemic has hit the most in the Salerno area, both in terms of cases and deaths. It is true that in Salerno city, the proximity of the vaccination points, such as the Augustan theater for the city center, that of Matierno for the upper hamlets, the social center and above all the parish of Sant’Eustachio helped to facilitate operations, thanks also at the Capitolo San Matteo hub and the qualitative work of the Salerno Mental Health Operational Unit, but in other areas of the province more needs to be done, especially in the north.
