In her rooms is the book that collects the portraits taken by photographer Maria Clara Macrì of some women she met on her travels around the world. The project began in 2018 when Macrì decided to enter the bedrooms of these women who he asked to pose naked.

“I wanted to return the image of the woman’s body without tying it to sexual desire. The rooms are the place where the discovery of ourselves takes place in our moments of freedom and intimacy, as Virgina Woolf wrote in the essay A room all to yourself “, says Macri.

From New York to Barcelona, from Paris to Milan, she spent only a few hours with some, others hosted her for days. In addition to the images, Macrì has included, as in a travel notebook, notes and reflections on the challenges facing contemporary women, on their representation and on gender stereotypes.

“Perhaps more than the portrait of women in their rooms it is a journey from me to them and back, it is the crossroads of our destinies. Isn’t that also how we can speak of a changing society? Starting from an individual life that mixes with other lives, am I not also talking about what it means to be a woman today? ”, Asks Macrì.

The book In her rooms was published by the Postcart publishing house.
