The Colombian sets a record time in the second official round of training at the COTA circuit in Austin.

The Colombian-Spanish rider David Alonso, representing the CFMoto team, stood out in the second official practice session of the Moto3 Grand Prix of the Americas, establishing a new absolute record at the COTA circuit in Austin.

Alonso completed his lap in an impressive 2 minutes and 14.153 seconds, thus surpassing the previous record in the category, which had been held by the Spanish Arón Canet since 2017 with a time of 2:14.644.

Despite the less favorable atmospheric conditions compared to the first day of training, with lower temperatures, the Moto3 riders came out determined to improve their times from the start of the session. The importance of obtaining a good position in the starting formation encouraged the pilots to give their best from the first moment.

The session intensified as the minutes passed and in the final stretch, Alonso demonstrated his quality by setting the new track record. In addition, other drivers such as the Australian Joel Kelso and the Spanish Iván Ortolá also achieved outstanding times, with 2:14.537, which improved the previous record in the category.

Regarding the official classification, the current leader of the category, the Spanish Daniel Holgado, achieved fourth position, followed by other prominent Spanish drivers such as David Muñoz, Ángel Piqueras and José Antonio Rueda. The Japanese Tatsuki Suzuki also stood out by securing eighth position.

With a place in the second direct classification, several drivers are preparing to face the next stage of the competition. Meanwhile, some Spanish drivers such as Adrián Fernández, David Almansa and Joel Esteban will face each other in the first classification.
