Deaths at work, trade unions: more prevention is needed

by admin

Feneal Uil, Filca Cisl, Fillea Cgil and Savt-Costruzioni underline the importance of training and controls

The two deaths at work this week in Gressan testify “in a dramatic way how much more needs to be done in the accident prevention phase”. This was stated by Feneal Uil, Filca Cisl, Fillea Cgil and Savt-Costruzioni in a statement on the fatal accident on a construction site.

«The tools and methods to avoid serious injuries and even the loss of life are there – the trade union organizations point out -, starting from the training of the employers of the site managers up to that of the workers. It is necessary to strengthen the control systems by equipping the staff of the Labor Inspectorate and the Local Health Authority with all the useful tools in this sense, to tighten the sanctions and to invest more in prevention and training. In this regard – the trade unions continue – a new awareness is needed which, through effective interaction and cooperation between trade unions, employers and institutions, can stem the distorting phenomena present in the sector ».

Feneal Uil, Filca Cisl, Fillea Cgil and Savt-Costruzioni express “their deepest condolences to the two families” and the hope that “the commitment of all stakeholders will lead to eliminating the mournful events that have so far affected the construction sector” .
