Despite the optimistic declarations, reopening at risk for the Aosta Valley

by admin

From April 26, the reopening announced by Draghi, but the Aosta Valley still records many infections from Covid-19

AOSTA. Valle d’Aosta remains in the red zone and the third wave of infections from Covid-19 does not seem to give signs of a slowdown that are important enough to give hope for a return to orange in a short time. The latest monitoring data from the Higher Institute of Health and the Ministry of Health say so.

In the week from 5 to 11 April, the incidence of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants approaches the threshold of 250, going from 432 in the previous monitoring to 285 in the report released this Friday. The average Rt index is 1.26 with a minimum of 1.15 and a maximum of 1.38 compatible with a type 2 scenario. Monitoring signals the alert for intensive care that has exceeded the occupancy threshold of 30% of Covid patients positive. The overall risk classification is “moderate with high probability of progression”.

However, taking into account the infections in the period from 9 to 15 April, the incidence dates back to: 319 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the highest figure in Italy, with a positive rate of swabs of 9.1%, the fourth highest nationwide.

Valle d’Aosta red zone until April 26th

The idea of a Covid-free island was suffocated in the bud, and despite the declarations on the positive trend of the vaccination campaign, the Aosta Valley will have to remain in lockdown for another seven days. So if a few weeks ago the Valley was an orange island in a sea of red, now the situation is reversed. Therefore, shops still closed; distance learning; bars and restaurants that can only work for take-out or home delivery; closed museums, theaters and cinemas; limits to travel even between municipalities.

The regional ordinance signed by President Erik Lavevaz for the red zone will remain in force until Monday 19 April. The measures could be extended for the following week.

Valle d’Aosta risks losing the train of reopening

With the red zone safe until April 26 and the fear that the lockdown could last until the beginning of May, the Aosta Valley risks arriving late for the appointment with the reopening announced by the Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, defined “a reasoned risk”.

The national situation of the pandemic is improving, the vaccination program goes on and therefore the yellow zone will be restored with new rules from April 26. You can have lunch in restaurants and also dine in places with outdoor tables, where contagion is more difficult. Cinemas and theaters will be able to welcome spectators again.

In schools there will be activities in presence for the orange and yellow regions, while in the red zone the activity will be in presence up to middle school and 50% in high school. Further on, from mid-May, the green light should arrive for outdoor pools and bathing establishments.

As part of the reopening, there is also talk of the introduction of a “pass” issued for the anti Covid vaccination, the negative swab and the recovery from Covid. The document will allow you to participate in some cultural and sporting events.
