Doctors and patients work together to explore the road to recovery at Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital’s World Parkinson’s Disease Day series of activities

In celebration of the 28th “World Parkinson’s Disease Day”, the Parkinson’s multidisciplinary team at Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University organized a series of activities to mark the occasion. The event included a multidisciplinary free clinic and a PA Friends Club, featuring rehabilitation care, music therapy, talent performances, and more, drawing the participation of numerous patients and medical staff.

Free clinic activities

On April 9, the Parkinson’s Disease Day series of activities commenced at Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University. The hospital’s expert team, including Director Fang Boyan of Parkinson’s Medical Center, Director of Neurosurgery Zhang Wenyi, and other medical professionals, provided free offline clinic services to patients. They addressed various aspects of the patient’s diagnosis, changes in condition, medication guidance, and rehabilitation guidance, offering valuable insights and adjustments to aid in the road to recovery.

Professor Fang Boyan, the event organizer, emphasized the importance of rehabilitation therapy in Parkinson’s disease treatment, highlighting the theme of “Harmonious Coexistence, Better Life” for this year’s World Parkinson’s Disease Day. Patients shared their experiences and journeys of overcoming Parkinson’s disease, expressing gratitude for the support and care received from the multidisciplinary team at Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital.

During the PA Friends Club activities, music therapists led patients in breathing exercises through songs, while rehabilitation nurses demonstrated respiratory rehabilitation training. Patients actively participated in activities and prepared performances, showcasing their determination and hope for a better life despite the challenges they face.
