SUSEGANA. Two injuries, at the Electrolux, thanks to a trolley and a train. The first one yesterday morning. The second after a few hours. At around 8 a.m., a worker near the boarding house was invested in the ‘thermoforming’ area, where plastic components for the refrigerators are packaged.
The factory doctor accompanied him to the emergency room, to the Conegliano hospital, where he was found to have a blunt trauma and an excoriation on his right foot. For him 15 days of prognosis.
In the second accident, caused by a train, a young team leader, recently hired, ran into. It operated on line pre-assembly1. Transported to the hospital’s infirmary, he received the necessary medications; no serious consequences. “The problem is the tight spaces of movement for trolleys and trains” explain the RSU delegates.
“The problem of spaces – they say – is complicated by certain productions made especially in the thermoforming area 1 and 4 and for certain fridge models, which require you to partially invade the transit corridors of the trolleys”.
But, according to the unions themselves, the whole factory is suffering from an apparently increasingly precarious condition. «A similar risk situation is present, for the same reasons, between lines 1 and 2, and in some points of the ‘goal area’.
All reported several times, also due to structural limitations, ”the delegates said. They suggest that “it would help a lot not to press train drivers and forklift drivers by being quick or perhaps by replacing them when out of prudence they do not have time to supply the lines due to the overload of assigned work”.
Electrolux has distinguished itself over the years for its safety, in particular after the serious explosion that took place again in 2001, with the death, after long months of agony, of Luisa Ciampi. At the entrance to the factory there is a display that indicates how long there have been no injuries; but yesterday it was updated twice in a row.
