The mayor of Milano Sala has signed an ordinance to deal with the drought. “The drought emergency persists – is the beginning of his post – and measures must be taken”. “Yesterday – he added – the Lombardy Region decreed a state of water emergency until September 30 and we believe it is right to do our part, adopting an ordinance that invites citizens to minimize the use of drinking water and domestic and to irrigate lawns, private gardens and clean terraces and courtyards “.
Drought, the archbishop prays to Our Lady for rain: “Give water to the thirsty earth”
Archbishop of Milan: “We hope in water from heaven”
“We hope that enough water will arrive from the sky for the needs of ours and all lands”. It is one of the passages of the prayer “for the gift of water” of the archbishop of MilanoMario Delpini, in the San’Ambrogio church in Trezzano sul Naviglio, in an agricultural area exhausted by drought.
The emergency measures ordered by the mayor: the fountains closed
In the post on Instagram with which Beppe Sala announced the ordinance, the mayor explains that he has ordered some emergency measures, such as the closure of all the fountains except for those where there is fauna and flora and the lakes / canals of the city parks. And the suspension of spray irrigation of lawns and green areas, except drip irrigation which affects new tree plantings that need to be preserved.
The city fountains will remain open, given the temperatures for weeks now above 30 degrees and the arrival of a new wave of color. To reduce energy consumption and therefore to lower the risk of blackouts, it is recommended to keep the temperature of offices, shops, homes at 26 degrees.
All shops will have to keep their doors closed even in the presence of air curtains and keep the temperature not below 26 degrees. Finally, I requested the activation of the private geothermal wells with discharge into water bodies to maximize the supply of each channel, cable or runner.
