Duisburg Accents cultural festival starts on Friday

Duisburg (epd). The 45th edition of the Duisburg Accents cultural festival starts on Friday. Under the motto “Family ties”, more than 90 events are planned at over 30 locations until March 24th, as the city of Duisburg announced. The program under the motto “Family Ties” includes performances from the areas of theater, performance and dance, visual arts, literature, music and film. Discussions, a family dance marathon and a children’s magic show are also planned.

The festival opens with the piece “Intervention!” by the Thalia Theater Hamburg. The piece about dealing with a “wayward” son and the relatives’ attempts to raise him comes from Sven Regener and Leander Haußmann.

Family ties are many constants in life, said Linda Wagner, head of the Duisburg cultural department. “The program reflects this diversity and offers a sophisticated and entertaining family program with international, national and regional artists.”

The photo exhibition “Ties that Bind” in the Liebfrauen Cultural Church also takes a look at family relationships. From March 3rd, more than 80 award-winning photos relating to this year’s festival theme will be presented. The non-profit foundation World Press Photo curated the show.
