After the resignation; he had won by Covid briefing

(ANSA) – NEW YORK, AUG 24 – The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has revoked the Emmy International award awarded last year to former New York governor Andrew Cuomo for daily briefings during the emergency of the first months of Covid-19. The announcement came after Cuomo left his post following the sexual harassment scandal.

“Cuomo’s name and any reference to the fact that he received the Emmy will henceforth be removed from any material related to the awards,” said an Academy spokesman. “The difference between Cuomo and me is that none of us are governors but I keep my Emmys,” commented “Sex and the City” actress Cynthia Nixon who challenged Cuomo to the last election.

It is not the first time that the Academy rescinds an Emmy: it happened in 2017 with Kevin Spacey, also accused of sexual harassment. Unlike the treatment for the comedian Bill Cosby who continues to keep his Emmys even if his name was removed from the website of the Academy after the conviction for sexual offenses, in turn revoked for a formal defect.
