Exhibition of the Colombian Gold Museum arrives in Europe for the first time

The Colombian Gold Museum collection, which has captivated audiences in the United States and Canada, will now make its debut in Europe.

The exhibition titled “More than Gold: Splendor and Thought of Indigenous Colombia” will open its doors to the public from March 22 to July 21 at the Rietberg Museum in Zurich, Switzerland.

The Colombian ambassador to Switzerland, Francisco Echeverri, announced this important exhibition through the official account of the Embassy on social networks. This is one of the most significant cultural events in Colombia, which comes to a privileged place such as the Rietberg Museum, recognized for its prestige in Switzerland.

The exhibition presents more than 400 indigenous pieces, including pre-Columbian gold, ceramic vessels, stone sculptures and indigenous jewelry. According to Ambassador Echeverri, the exhibition is not only about exhibiting objects, but also about exploring the customs, thoughts and making of instruments of Colombian indigenous cultures.

This exhibition, which has already been presented in the United States and Canada in 2022, is the first time it has arrived in Europe. Many of the pieces have never been shown in Switzerland before, making it a unique opportunity for European audiences.

María Fernanda Ugalde, art curator at the Rietberg Museum, highlighted the importance of the exhibition and the invitation it represents to learn about the art and culture of Colombia. The Rietberg Museum, known for its focus on traditional and contemporary arts and cultures from different parts of the world, is the ideal location to host this exceptional exhibition.
