He was 74 years old, on Thursday the funeral in Santa Maria Ausiliatrice. Having been the victim of a serious car accident a few years ago, his condition gradually worsened to the point of fatal aggravation. He had also been president of Trevigianfidi

TREVISO. “The higher he climbs, the farther he sees. The farther he sees, the farther he dreams”. Even Giancarlo Dubolino was always convinced that from the top of a peak you could see further and dream. For this reason the family members have chosen this phrase of the great mountaineer Walter Bonatti to accompany his extreme earthly journey, the last of many he has made in the mountains and in much of the world.

The funeral of Dubolino, who passed away last Thursday, will take place on Thursday 30, at 3.30 pm, in Santa Maria Ausiliatrice (the votive church) in Treviso: next December 23 he would have turned 75. The mountain imprinting certainly came from being born in Cavalese (TN), in Val di Fiemme, but he was from Treviso in all respects: in the capital of the Marca he had moved as a boy, with his family, and after a short interlude to Verona had returned to settle there.

After graduating in political science, he began his professional career at Bnl, mainly between Treviso and Vittorio Veneto, dealing with the granting of credit lines and then in the role of head of the credit recovery office: a delicate task, which he has always performed, at said of the interlocutors themselves, without ever losing the awareness of facing people in difficulty.

Once he retired, he remained somehow in the sector, presiding over Trevigianfidi, the guarantee consortium of Artigianato Trevigiano – Casartigiani for some years. But above all he dedicated himself to his great passions. The mountains, in fact: countless treks, in which he participated and also organized on behalf of specialized associations, from the Dolomites to Patagonia, North Africa, even in Southeast Asia. And then the city of Treviso and its historical-artistic heritage, engaging in cultural and social promotion activities, for example with the Oltrecagnan association. From work to volunteering, always being appreciated for humanity and intellectual honesty.
Having been the victim of a serious car accident a few years ago, his condition gradually worsened to the point of fatal aggravation.
He leaves his son Fabio with his partner Valentina, his nephews Davide and Daniele, his brother Pino, his ex-wife Elena, and his partner Daniela. The funeral home will be open from 2 pm at the Ca ‘Foncello hospital morgue. After the funeral, the body will be buried in Cavalese and Giancarlo will be able to return to his beloved mountains.
